Many corners of Kathmandu Valley offer nice destinations for trekking. You don’t need anymore to take a flight or drive for hours, many trek heavens are available around the capital city to discover fabulous places with Himalayan views.
These short itineraries are perfect if you have only a couple of days to spend in Nepal and want to enjoy your first trekking experience. From north to south, from west to east of Kathmandu, NepalaYak shows you the way.
From Shivapuri to Nagarkot
This trek lays on the north / north-eastern side of Kathmandu. You start the program inside Shivapuri National Park until reaching Chisapani and its panorama over Ganesh Himal and Langtang ranges. Then your steps take you to the only tea plantations of the Kathmandu Valley at Bhotechaur and Nagarkot, a hill station famous for its views over Himalayas. Finally, you end your adventure at Changunarayan, the oldest hindu temple in Nepal, listed at the UNESCO heritage sites.

Namo Buddha – Panauti – Lakuri Bhanjyang
After a transfer to the east of Kathmandu, on Dhulikhel, your journey starts heading to the Buddhist monastery of Namo Buddha before reaching the hindu town of Panauti. A short transfer takes you to Suryabinayak from where a hike at the top of a crest will uplift you to Lakuri Bhanjyang before coming down to Godavari and its botanical garden.

Champa Devi – Indra Sarovar Lake – Daman
Located south-west of Kathmandu, this circuit starts with the Chandragiri cable car. Once at the top, you hike to Champa Devi and Himalayas at the north before reaching Pharping monastery. Then, you discover traditional villages of Phakhel and Purandi, and reach the artificial lake of INdra Sarovar, also known as Kulekhani Reservoir. A short trip to Markhu and Chitlang before finally heading to Daman on the Orchids Trek.
